From the Little Asian Cornfield

I wish I had a picture to show you of me and Kristen yesterday in all our super sweaty and utterly exhausted glory as we stood guard over hot dogs and macaroni for a good five hours and got paid for it. It was Africa hot. We talked about all the places we're going to take you when you get home. I can't remember any of them, but good times will be had.

So what does the 'Africa hot' really mean?

I'm leaving for Kauai tomorrow! When I get back, SO WILL YOU! ONE WEEK ONE WEEK ONE WEEK ONE WEEK ONE WEEK ONE WEEEEEEK and I hope your mom makes pie.

We ended with birds...

Daniel, you are amazing! Thank you sooooooooo much for calling. Seriously awesome birthday present. I worked at this incredibly boring catering gig yesterday, where I stocked beverages for like 1 hour out of the 7 hours I was there, but everytime I thought to myself, "Hudson called!" I smiled :) You know how to make a sweet birthday. Sarah does too; we had a blast eating cheesecake and catching up with Megan and Mandy. I love that picture.
Go conquer the Nile!
See you in less than 2 weeks

Holler (my grandma says that all the time)

[recent pic of a recent birthday!]

Hudson.

You are a STUD for myriad reasons, not the least of which include phone calls from one hemisphere to the next.

Also, are you sending your mother enough love? Your mom's friend was visiting my mom today in our kitchen during my lunch break and she told me to call your mom. . .Tell your mom's friend to tell your mom that I am going to call her tomorrow.

Not going to class anymore is a sweet deal.

I played cribbage and had some rooibos last night. Add work and Harry Potter and you pretty much have my life. Wait, not true--I am being an active citizen. Via biting and pointed (and very anonymous) essays directed at a certain Asian city's department of human resources, I am battling the injustices of the employed and underpaid youth at a certain pool. I would tell you more, but there is almost certainly a warrant out for the untimely demise of the author of those letters. Truthfully, I am not even personally affected by this particularly nasty breach of California law; I'm just doing it out of spite for The Man.

What do you want to do first and second and third when you get back??

(11 DAYS! Save me some Nile.)

Friendship

I just wanted to tell you what an awesome friend you are, and that I really miss you and can't wait for you to come home. love you man.
The Giants game last Friday was amazing! Probably one of the best games all season. 754 was beautiful and it came in a game that had back-to-back home runs by Feliz and Molina, plus a Ray hr, and then a spectacular Omar play from a sitting position on the ground, and Sweeney getting his 151st pinch hit to put him ahead of Mota on the all time list. Very very cool; class act that Sweeney. Maybe you caught some replays online. I'll put some pics up soon.
Morris got traded for a Pirate outfielder, don't know much about him.
Oh, Bill Walsh died yesterday :( As you know, a major loss to football and the bay area. If you get a chance while you're online, or when you come back, check out Brent Jones' interview with Ralph on KNBR.com.

Swim Meets

Recent swim stats are in.
Coach, can I just say that they are off the charts and not the hook?

Seventeen, Eighteen, Nineteen . . .

[Setting: Milpitas Pool. Learn-to-swim, level 1. Three ~7 y/o GIRLS, and ME]

ME: OK, guess how old I am.

GIRLS: Forty!

ME: [Incredulous]...No. No, you're wrong. Guess again.

[GIRLS eventually get it right after several guesses]

ME: Right. I'm twenty. [All peppy and teacher-ish] What are YOU girls going to do when you're twenty??:D

GIRLS: Die.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I thought I should celebrate quick before you are lion brunch, so I made you a birthday cupcake!

No, I didn't. But I did make you a birthday blueberry muffin with chocolate frosting...

I love you, Hudson! I hope you have an amazing day (when it comes), and p.s. I secretly want you to live ;)
